A favourite topic in the Hartwell offices has already prompted conversations at coffee time as we look forward to the fantastic series of 2024 countryside events across the UK.
There was a bit of discussion as to whether there is too much focus on the big shows and do the smaller regional events get overlooked.
So we will of course have a insightful blog later in the year on the biggest and best of British countryside fairs and shows which will include news and information regarding Hartwell clothing’s attendance, but for today this blog takes a look at some of the wonderful regional events that showcase everything that’s good about British farming and the countryside.
And of course it’s your opportunity to show off the Hartwell and some items from our forthcoming Spring/Summer collection launch.
Fantastic regional countryside events
This month starts with a bang as we take a look at the British Shooting Show at the NEC in Birmingham. Maybe not the location you would expect to host countryside events but it’s easy to get to with great transport links and parking.
This is a fine opportunity to make a splash in your latest Hartwell Clothing outfit, or to wear that stunning country clothing Gilet you had as a Christmas present.
For those who shoot for pleasure or as part of their working day, the shooting industry’s leading manufacturers, distributors, retailers and shooting organisations come together to offer visitors the largest choice of shooting related products seen anywhere in Europe.
The show covers all disciplines of shooting and shooting related interests, featuring shotguns, rifles, airguns, optics, game keeping, private arms collections, gun-dogs, gunsmith demonstrations and lots more.
Spend the day with experts, enthusiasts, professionals, and friends and show some style in a Hartwell Clothing Ava pure wool Gilet.
March brings us two stunning events with the first on March 6th being the 2024 Farm Expo in Kent
Farm Expo is a free to attend event to showcase the best of farming machinery, goods, and services from national and international suppliers.
More than 150 exhibitors are expected to attend the event, with live demonstrations and experts on hand to showcase some of the most innovative products on the market.
Hartwell’s range is practical for the farm and farm shop, stylish with cutting edge design for those must attend events and our Ladies country shirt range empowers women in farming when you need to take care of business.
With the range of exhibitors and other resources on offer, Farm Expo is an important date in the calendar for farmers to meet, relax and discuss developments in the industry.
And then Sunday March 24th take a trip over to the stunning county of Rutland and enjoy the flavours of the British countryside at the Rutland Food and drink festival.
Taking place in Oakham market square and town centre, the festival will host a range of food and drink sellers, food stalls and other local producers for the first Food and Drink Festival of 2024.
Supported by Farming UK you can expect the very best of local farm to table meats and produce.
With lots of sampling to do you may want to ensure that your outfit is comfortable and has room to expand!
Hartwell’s stretch jeans are perfect or if we get a fine warm spring day, a Hartwell Sally or Ruby dress over a nice pair of boots will add some chic and allow for all that walking and those tasty bites.
Peak event months
May, June, and July are of course the peak months for countryside shows and events and with such a wide range to choose from you are really spoilt for choice.
Getting the wardrobe ready for multiple events or a long weekend away requires some planning.
Luckily, much of the Hartwell Clothing range is flexible to wear for day and evening events and looks just as good in the champagne tent as it does around the paddock.
As always Hartwell Ladies country shirts are a staple and look stunning with skirts, leggings, jodhpurs or quality jeans.
For a slightly more feminine look make sure you pack a beautiful spring/summer dress and blouse.
Our latest collection gives you lots of fabulous quality choices to stand out in the show crowds.
We have picked 3 events to mention and we hope you enjoy visiting.
Great Countryside Events
Let’s start with more food (always a good place to start) as Saturday 25th May to Monday, 27th May sees Harwood House in West Yorkshire host the Great British Food Festival.
A stunning location with a relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy the best food and drink with friends and families, creating memorable moments together.
They will have a wonderful array of produce on offer, from local and national producers, from chocolate to chutney and cheese and meats. There will be something to delight everyone’s taste buds as you explore the finest of British produce and British farming.
With lots of entertainment, from top chefs to live music and food challenges, kids entertainment and a huge range of food and drink on offer to enjoy and to take home.
Flaming June “we hope” gives you a great opportunity to visit Scotland and Cornwall for two wonderful regional shows.
While you’re about and about travelling make sure you take a break and call into one of our lovely Hartwell stockists who are across the UK.
Enjoy the beautiful county of West Fife for the West Fife Agricultural Show which is held on the first Saturday of June each year at Easter Bucklyvie Farm.
One of the best parts of the Show are the livestock competitions. Whether it be cattle, sheep, goats, heavy horses or light horses, there is something different to see throughout the day.
For those who prefer 4 wheels rather than 4 legs, there is also fantastic support from many local machinery dealerships who display various tractors and equipment as well as vintage tractor exhibitors.
If you’re heading south then Thursday 6th June to Saturday 8th June are the dates for the fantastically popular Royal Cornwall Show.
It’s the county’s biggest annual event and is brim full of exhibits and activities which offer so much in the way of entertainment, competition, information, shopping and all that’s best in food and farming showcasing the best in Cornish agriculture.
There is so much to do at the show, you might need all 3 days just to see it all!
From live entertainment, local food and drink to high-level livestock competitions, there is something for everyone.
And finally we turn to one of the British Countryside’s most traditional pursuits as we have to mention the Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show and festival Of Hounds, in Cambridgeshire.
The Festival of Hunting is an annual showcase for the world of hunting and boasts the greatest gathering of hounds in the country.
In addition, there will be a variety of showing classes.
Harriers, Beagles, Basset Hounds, Draghounds and Bloodhounds will be competing and there will be displays of fell hounds, coursing dogs, and the popular Sealey Terriers.
